I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I began reading this book. I had heard about this book through some others blogs, and I thought that I would give it a read. In this book, Mark Batterson, encourages readers to unleash their fears, to not play it safe, and to chase down the lion that is before us.
I am the type of person who likes to play things safe, and I like to try to be 100% certain in any decision that I make. Mark shows us that we can never be 100% sure on a decision, and when we try to live our lives this way we end up missing out on something amazing, or regretting missed opportunities. We need to let go of the wheel of our lives and trust God to lead us by faith.
“Faith is embracing the uncertainties of life. It is chasing the lions that cross our paths. It is recognizing a divine appointment when you see one.”
After reading this book I realized that it is time for me to quit playing it “safe” and to chase down some lions that are in my path. I am not sure exactly what this means for me, but I know that God is leading me by faith. I don’t want to look back on my life, and know that I just “played it safe.” I am ready for the ride that God is going to be taking me on.
What are some lions that you need to chase down?

I”m reading this book right now – so far – so good. I don’t like to “play things safe” – but I’m not a “lion chaser”. So, I guess…I do play things safe? I dunno – but I’m enjoying the book.

I found this book to be a well written presentation on many truths God has been trying to teach me most of my adult life. It’s been tremendously encouraging.

I just finished reading the book (In a pit with a lion on a snowy day). Being a Layman and geared more toward systematic theology and bible study, I rarely read topical/motivational books due to often psychology/theories imposed. However my dear friend insisted on my reading it, so I did. For the most part, I enjoyed reading it and found it encouraging that it would share an insight of being courageous inspite of ones circumstances. Having said that, now I can return to some good bible study.
