Wendi was flipping through some magazines yesterday in the doctors office when she came across an article on ways to save money.  In the article there was a budget that the writer was using to show ways to “make adjustments” to save money and pay off debt.  One of the “ways” to save money and pay off debt was to take the $400 budgeted for tithing to the church and to use that money to pay off credit card debt.  We were both angered by this article that they would suggest such a thing.  It was obvious that the writer does not really understand the joy or purpose of tithing.  Wendi and I tithed before we were married and continued to do so even after we were married.  We know that we have been blessed by God in so many ways.  We do not have an overabundance of money, but we have never been without what we need.

I was glad to hear this past Sunday that our 6th grade Sunday School teachers were teaching our students about the importance of tithing!  I figure if a 6th grader can understand tithing why can’t we.  Thank you to our teachers for teaching our students on the importance of tithing.
